ABORTED DREAM BY ABOLADE MOTUNRAYO

Like every young child would wiI dreamt of a beautiful city
As beautiful as Heaven
Adorned with gold

But my father laid a bar at the entrance of the beautiful city
He strongly believed in “No girl child education”
and he aborted my dream.

Father told me am just a chicken
meant to produce children
and made me realised that the only career that befits me is ‘A cook’

sequel to 05:04 THE GOSPEL OF GENDER EQUITY by Elisha Udom

If wishes were horses, beggars would ride
If only my daydreaming could turn to reality
I would call on Heaven to rejoice with me
My Joy will know no bounds

If only I can be given a chance to prove to the world that I can do better than my brothers
And let them know girls need to be educated!

Simple I guess?
